Meeting Reviews

Fall Meeting Summary

By Ihuoma Njoku, MD and Kimberly A. Curtis, MD
UVA Department of Psychiatry and Neurobehavioral Sciences

Dr. Kimberly Curtis and I were pleased to be able to present our case report on clozapine myocarditis, titled “Clozapine Myocarditis in a Hospitalized Young Adult Male: A Case Report.” We discussed the symptoms of our patient and this underappreciated adverse effect. We also discussed prophylactic monitoring of this condition. We are very appreciative of being awarded the Honorable Mention for our poster. This was Dr. Ihuoma Njoku’s first PSV meeting and our first virtual meeting; it was a wonderful experience.

We particularly enjoyed Dr. Ronald Smith’s talk on the historical role of substance use in high levels of government decisions.  Dr. Christopher Koguts’ presentation on “Supporting our LGBT” patients was incredibly insightful and has already changed our practice.

Overall, we are very thankful to have joined the meeting and are looking forward to the next meeting.
