PSV is awarded the APA CoPPLA Grant
The Psychiatric Society of Virginia recently received the APA CoPPLA Grant (Commission on Public Policy, Litigation, and Advocacy) in the amount of $32,000. The APA has the responsibility of reviewing requests, usually from District Branches and State Associations, for financial support of projects involving legislation, litigation, and advocacy; of making recommendations regarding funding to the Board of Trustees; and of proposing coordinated activity by other APA components, District Branches, and State Associations. The PSV is using this grant money to hire consultant Cal Whitehead of Whitehead Consultants, LLC for grassroots and advocacy work in the legislative arena.

PSV Foundation is awarded the APA Foundation Disaster Services Fund
The APA Foundation awards the PSV Foundation $32,5000 from the Disaster Services Fund. This fund is to support a public awareness program in Central Virginia about the mental health impact of the September 11th terrorist attacks. The program will include public service announcements on a local Richmond television station that will reach nearly 500,000 households, television call-in segments during the evening news broadcasts, seminars for school guidance counselors and internet resources.
