· Psychiatrist Opportunities: Shenandoah Valley

· Psychiatrist needed to provide general psychiatry services to adults (and some children/adolescents) in outpatient clinics serving all age groups/diagnostic categories. Also, daily evaluations/treatment oversight will occur at a co-occuring substance use disorders treatment center and Residential Recovery program. These service locations supported by RN’s, counselors, case managers. Does NOT include call rotation. Typically day time M-F work hours, does involve infrequent after hours telephone support. Cumberland Mountain Community Services Board (CMCSB) is one of forty Virginia CSB’s, located equidistant to Roanoke, VA and Knoxville, TN. CMCSB employs a Medical Director (BC), a child psychiatrist (BC) and a psychiatric nurse practitioner. As a public, non-profit, CMCSB serves persons with serious and persistent mental illnesses, mental retardation, and substance use disorders within a model of comprehensive care. CMCSB is designated a mental health professional shortage area (MHPSA).

· Central State Hospital is a JCAHO accredited inpatient psychiatric facility located in Petersburg, VA. We treat mentally-ill adults with an age range of 18-64. Opportunity exists for night and/or weekend on-call coverage. The on-call physician will provide on grounds availability to evaluate patients, provide admission history and physical examinations, and perform rounds as needed on both the forensic and civil units. Incumbent will also respond to clinical situations in the hospital after hours and on weekends. On-site physician quarters are provided. Back-up phone consultation is available from staff psychiatrists. This is a part-time position.
Job Qualifications: Doctor of Medicine licensed to practice in Virginia. Candidates for this position may be primary care physicians or psychiatrists. Good medical and psychiatric diagnostic skills. Ability to function with minimal direct supervision. Good interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams. · Central State Hospital is a JCAHO accredited inpatient psychiatric facility located in Petersburg, VA. We treat mentally-ill adults with an age range of 18-64. With our current patient population of 230, we have a need for psychiatrists to work with both our forensic and civil populations. We are also the only state agency that has a maximum security unit. Successful candidates will occupy salaried full-time positions with excellent state benefits that include paid malpractice insurance. In addition to great state benefits, the normal working hours are Monday - Friday, 8:15 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., with very limited night and weekends.
Job Qualifications: BC/BE Psychiatrist with experience in treating adult forensic patients with serious mental illnesses. The successful candidate must meet eligibility requirements for certification in general psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. M.D. with license to practice in Virginia.
