The Psychiatric Society of Virginia is a district branch of the American Psychiatric Association, with over 500 member psychiatrists. PSV focuses its efforts on advocacy of mental health issues, the advancement of psychiatry, and service to the community.

Mission Statement:
The Psychiatric Society of Virginia (PSV) is a professional medical organization that represents psychiatric physicians statewide; it is a district branch of the American Psychiatric Association.

Vision: To achieve full access to the highest quality care for all Virginians in order to promote mental health and minimize psychiatric disability in the Commonwealth

Mission:
1. Promote the best interests of patients and their families through ethical, timely, and cost-effective psychiatric care
2. Advocate for patients, facilities, standards of care, and psychiatrists
3. Inform our members about advances in the specialty of psychiatry, and promote education and research to other health professionals and the public
4. Strengthen relationships with other medical specialties, other mental health professions, and advocacy organizations
